Noor - The Bulletin

Editor’s Note:

A heartfelt good evening to everyone. I, Rtr. Nidhi Lodaya, the Editorial Director of RCUPG 2018-19, am pleased and excited to announce the launching of our all new bulletin, NOOR.

I welcome everyone for NOOR, the first edition of RCUPG’s bulletinfor the year 2018-19. I’m pretty sure not many of you ‘all would be aware of what NOOR means and hence let me give you the literal meaning of the word. NOOR means ‘LIGHT’ or ‘TO RADIATE’ and that is exactly what RCUPG’s purpose is. RCUPG from its hard work and constant strive, thrives to radiate positive and happy vibes from our actions and events and thus we rightly stick to our year theme, THRIVE.

For me, NOOR is a metaphor because even though I have an entire year ahead for me and I will be learning a lot throughout the year but this past month itself has taught me so much which I had no idea I was capable of doing. RCUPG presents not only its directors, core but also all its members an opportunity and a fair chance to radiate their thoughts, ideas and values out to the world through the form of events, either through participation or organizing.

When I look back, I regret not being a part of RCUPG earlier because now that I am here, I realised everything that I have missed, all the opportunities, the experience and also making memories and becoming friends to so many new people. As I mentioned earlier and probably will keep mentioning again because it’s funny and surprising how much I’ve learnt in this month and a half already and I still have an entire year to learn more, to grow, to understand, to create an impact and TO RADIATE my thoughts and ideas through my actions. For this, RCUPG is an excellent platform not only to me but also to my fellow directors, Core Team and the members.

Why NOOR?

“Ek noor ab bhi baaki hai

Ek fitoor ab bhi baaki hai

Haar chuke sab kuch

Phir bhi jeetne ka ek suroor ab bhi baaki hai.’’

I’m sure many of you might have this question… why NOOR?

While deciding the bulletin theme, it was integral to keep the year theme, the ideals and principles of our club and what we stand for in consideration. We also wanted to keep a word which would not only reflect our club but also show our club the correct light towards good, towards success and for the welfare of the club and the society. After brainstorming and a whole bunch of ideas, we finalized on NOOR. The Urdu word gives a sense of indigeneity and an Indian feel to it whereas its meaning reflects what we stand for. We strive to give light to the under privileged by our actions. We strive to give light to the talents of other people, be it the under privileged, our Core, our board of directors and our members. We strive to radiate our presence in the society as well as our thoughts, ideas, beliefs to help and create an impact.

We strive to THRIVE.

To me as an Editorial Director, NOOR along with RCUPG together holds a lot a value.

N - Noteworthy

O - Optimistic

O - Outstanding

R - Resilient

These words perfectly sum up what RCUPG is and NOOR is just a reflection to the identity of RCUPG. The people in RCUPG are always optimistic, no matter the situation and that makes me believe that with zeal and hard work, anything can be possible and that happens only if you have an outstanding team to support you and who are resilient to never give up, are the ones who make this club noteworthy.

Rtr. Nidhi Lodaya

Editor 2018-19

President’s Note:

This year will be full of learning and growing. The core, BOD as well as the members should take this platform as an opportunity to learn new things and grow individually as well as an organization in a whole. RCUPG 2018-19 will be known for its new projects and new ideas. Our aim is to take this organization back to its glory time and make a difference in society. I, Nemi Mehta, as the President for this year want to make sure that we build the base for the coming years and the graph of the club which will always be growing. Spreading awareness, building relations, making a difference, and learning will be the focusing point for the year. I hope each and every person who is a part of this organization have a memorable year.

Now our President for the year 2018-19 will share her thoughts on our year theme, THRIVE.

THRIVING with that ONE SOCH has a deeper meaning than it seems. This year, RCUPG will witness the growth of the organisation. The base has been already set by the team of 17-18 and now it’s the time to step up the game. This year we will thrive to build a platform for future which will give successors a chance to bring innovation. Growth is never by mere chance, it is the result of forces working together. With this thought we proceed to thrive with that one soch to make it happen.

Rtr. Yanaisha Moos - Secretary and Vice President Support Functions

“Tumse har waqt rubaru rehna Manzoor hai

Kyuki tum ho toh zindagi mein NOOR hai.’’

RCUPG is not just a club for me but it has now slowly but effortlessly become my every day.

From being just a member to THRIVING to being a Secretary and Vice President, my journey in RCUPG has evolved me into a better person.

I have learnt to be patient, hardworking as well as supportive to my President as a Secretary and to be strong as well as stern but also loving to my board of directors as a Vice President.

RCUPG has come as a light in my life and I see myself serving this club for many more years to come.

Rtr. Vyom Mehta - Vice President Main Avenues

NOOR, being the bulletin of the club this year means something special to all of us. For me, RCUPG will always have a special place in my heart as it has given me many memories to cherish for lifetime. NOOR is a perfect synonym to describe my feeling towards this club.

Rtr. Heta Tanna - Joint Secretary

RCUPG is one of the best committee, inspite of all the problems and issues faced but I’m sure RCUPG will work towards achieving the common goal which we all have. Every board of director and the core members of RCUPG have certain goals and aims and I know everyone will work towards achieving it and taking RCUPG to the next level. I personally think that RCUPG deserves a better position and together, we thrive to see that happen by the core, board of directors and members working together as not only friends or a family but also as a team. I hope to see RCUPG rise to the next level in the coming years.

Rtr. Abhishek Doshi - Sergeant at Arms

The Rotaract Club of UPG College has given me an opportunity to meet new people and has given me a chance to look at the world from a different perspective. Through RCUPG, I have learned many qualities, leadership being the most important one and it has also helped develop my personality and made me a better and a more confident person than I was before. My journey in RCUPG, right from the board of directors to the core now has been extremely enjoyable and memorable. Now, as a core member of the club, I, Abhishek Doshi, will do whatever it takes for the betterment for our club.

Board of Director’s Note:

Rtr. Hitakshi Kanojia - Club Service Director

RCUPG means a lot to me. Through Rotaract, I gained confidence and started to believe in myself. RCUPG has given me a chance to improve my inter-personal skills as I was very shy and now I think I’m confident enough to speak in front of a crowd. I love to help and direct people towards the right path who are in need of help and RCUPG gives me a chance to do exactly that! I want to be able to provide help to the society and RCUPG is a stepping stone to more such experiences.

Rtr. Ashmi Jhatakia - Club Service Director

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, be more and give more, then DO MORE.”

RCUPG has given me an opportunity to showcase my leadership skills and has helped me become a better person. I shall do my best to meet the expectations that the club has from me and even more. I’ll do everything that I can!

Rtr. Nazrul Ansari - Community Service Director

Since 8th standard my wish has always been to be a part of the Rotaract Club so I got really excited when I got admission in Mithibai. I applied and gave an interview for the member of the Rotaract Club of Mithibai but I wasn’t selected. Yes, I did feel upset but when I joined UPG, I was selected and now here I am, as a board of director and that makes me feel immensely happy and proud that I finally achieved my dream. Hence, RCUPG is very close to my heart because of all the opportunities it has been given me. I consider myself very lucky to be a part of RCUPG.

Rtr. Priyal Shah - Community Service and PR Director

When I say RCUPG, I emphasize on ‘OURCUPG.’ I am so overwhelmed that I was considered to be worthy enough for two avenues and that is teaching me a lot, especially to strike the right balance in life as I juggle between my college life, personal life as well as Rotaract. RCUPG gives me something to look forward to everyday in college. The year has just begun and Rotaract has already given me a bundle of memories to cherish and dreams to chase. With a good team, amazing enthusiasm and a pinch of my jokes which are now being referred to as ‘Priyal types jokes,’ RCUPG is making everything possible.

Rtr. Drashti Kothari - International Service Director

Being part of the Rotaract family has enabled me to meet so many new people and it also gives us a great platform to learn new things. It’s fun and it feels good to help the society and through my journey in Rotaract, I’ve already made such great friends and the weekly meetings are surprisingly fun!

Rtr. Azra Mukadam - International Service Director

To me, Rotaract isn’t just about being creating events or about serving the community, it’s about being woke about all that happens around me and absorbing everything good from its people.

Rtr. Srishti Chaudhary - PD & ED Director

RCUPG: A club with multiple connotations. For me, it’s a sprawling arena of opportunities. A platform for picking up skills, an excuse to make friends and a chance to create unforgettable memories. Noor is the radiance that we aspire to portray through all the projects we do this year, reflecting success that smiles back at us. For me, it’s about shaking off even the worst of times and hoping to seek the light despite darkness staring back at me.

Rtr. Rohit Shirke - Sports Director

The Rotaract Club has brought together people to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills and have fun through various events. In RCUPG, everyone, right from the Core to the BOD and the members work side by side to take action through service. From events to visiting NGO’s, Rotaract is changing communities, one day at a time.

Rtr. Dhanisha Lalwani - PR Director

For me, RCUPG is more like a family to be. The wide range of events that we conducted in this little time so far have given me a chance to experience different mindsets of people. It has also helped me to recognise my inner capabilities.

Rtr. Niyati Doshi - Marketing Director

RCUPG means a lot to me. I like to be a part of it because there are many social activities to work for which give me an opportunity to do some good deed. Working together with the other directors and members is also an experience to learn. I strive to contribute to this committee as much as possible.

Rtr. Ruchi Bhansali - Marketing Director

Since I’ve been part of RCUPG since only a few days, I haven’t really done an event but I’ve noticed that everyone here is very helpful and cooperative. The events and the people are power packed and I know that my journey with RCUPG will be memorable too!

Rtr. Bhisha Gosrani - Partners in Service Director

Being a Rotary kid, joining Rotaract came to me naturally and I’m so glad that it did! Today, I’m learning and unlearning so many things every single day. Contributing as a director has strengthened my belief in the power of OURCUPG and the Rotaract movement as a whole. The amazing team that I get to work with makes me look forward to every single project and meeting with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Rtr. Urja Shah - Digital Communications Director

RCUPG has been an amazing platform to showcase my skills. I like it when you get the correct recognition, appreciation and unbiased criticism for your work and RCUPG gives me just that! The RCUPG team is more like a group of friends who like to hangout together and that bond reflects in how they support each other in every aspect. Funnily enough, RCUPG has termed my laughter as ‘Urjajaisa laughter’ and I hope to add more such laughter to this club. Can’t wait to create history with RCUPG!

Rtr. Aarthi Vijayaraghavan - Social Media Director

Being a part of RCUPG feel like a dream come true! The best part about Rotaract is the people in it and the events. Cheers to RCUPG! The only thing I wish is to have loads of fun and make amazing memories throughout the year.
